Reduce The Probability Of Sexual Assault And Harassment - Sample

Question: Discuss about the Reduce The Probability Of Sexual Assault And Harassment. Answer: Strategy Various strategies should be maintained and followed in order to reduce the probability of sexual assault and harassment (Bartol and Bartol 2014). The key strategy to avoid this type of unwarranted incidents is to be aware about what students are going to do. They should be well aware about the place they are visiting with any unknown persons. Moreover, before going to a unknown place with any unknown person, it is been recommended that student should have the entire knowledge about the place to be visited and about the details of the person with whom to be accompanied. Another strategy will be the communication skill of the student. Effective communication skill is important to avoid this type of unwarranted situation. This is due to the reason that, students should speak up in case of any emergence of this issue (Cantor et al. 2015). They should tell no directly to the person if they are not interested in anything. Verbal and non-verbal style of communication should also be maintai ned in a suitable way in any unknown place and among unknown persons. This will help them in portraying their attitude to the outsiders. In addition, if students think that they are feeling uncomfortable in any situation or with any person then they should directly speak up in public. It will help them to aware other people about the situation. Another strategy that will be helpful for the students especially for the female students will be the learning of self-defense skills (Aaltonen 2012). This is due to the reason that, it is been seen that the victims are always been chosen based on their helplessness. Thus, the female students are being targeted in the majority of the cases. Thus, initiation of self-defense training for the students will help them to get equipped in case of emergence of any unwarranted incidents. If the students can be provided effective training in self-defense skills, then will able to manage the situation lone or at least protect themselves up to the time of receiving any help. Another advantage of having self-defense skill will help to deter the assaulter in the initial stage and thus it wil l create fear in the mind of the assaulter. Drinking and intake of alcohol should be done in responsible way. This should be given an extra concentration due to the reason that, the majority of the case of sexual assault are being done when the victim is not in their state of mind. Thus, responsibility is expected from the student in taking alcoholic drinks. Moreover, the drinks should only be accepted from any sealed container rather than from any open one being served by any unknown person. This will reduce the risk of inhaling any harmful substances with the drink, which may cause unconsciousness of the student. The students should also follow various strategies in order to avoid being indulged in accusations of rape. One of the key strategies will be to determine the orientation of the partner before having sex. This is due to the reason that, having sex with the partner without his/her consent will be treated as rape (Jozkowski and Peterson 2013). Moreover, social influence from friends or any other to indulge in any unethical and violent acts should be refrained by the students. The more they will be aware about their surroundings, the less will be the chance of indulging in any unwarranted incidents. Reference Aaltonen, E., 2012.
